1

Is Brilliant Futures right for your child?

For most families the honest default is this: choose Brilliant Futures for two years of enrichment, not as a way into an Academy. It runs beside your child's own school in Years 7 and 8, and Year 10 entry still has its own process.

Three things decide it for most families.

  1. What you want from it

Brisbane's is a two-year enrichment program in Years 7 and 82Qld Academies · 12 October 2026 · Published. The Gold Coast's is a preparation and enrichment program towards QAHS for Year 101Qld Academies · 12 October 2026 · Published. Neither is a school place.

  2. Which campus fits your child's interests

Brisbane links to QACI, the creative industries campus. The Gold Coast links to QAHS, the health sciences campus, with STEM-based workshops. 1Qld Academies · 13 October 2026 · Published

  3. Whether the time and cost suit your family

Brisbane asks for at least one of the two learning engagements each term2Qld Academies · 13 October 2026 · Published, on weekdays after school or on weekends2Qld Academies · 13 October 2026 · Published. The Gold Coast asks for at least four workshops each year1Qld Academies · 13 October 2026 · Published.

Brisbane and Gold Coast programs: apply in Year 6, Introductory Year 7, Year 8 inquiry; a Year 10 place comes only from the Year 10 process.
2

How do the two programs compare?

They share a test and a structure, but differ in campus, focus, cost and rules. Set them side by side before you decide.
