SelectiveReady Privacy Policy
Varun Prasad Gopisetti (ABN 53 930 169 401) operates SelectiveReady at selectiveready.com. Contact privacy@selectiveready.com. This policy explains our handling of personal information. Students can read Your privacy with their parent or guardian.
1. The main points
- An adult parent or guardian manages one account for one student. There is no separate student profile.
- We use account information, practice activity and saved writing to provide the service. We do not sell personal information or use student work for advertising.
- Outside providers process information, including outside Australia.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete account information by email. We verify requests before acting.
- Marketing emails are optional. Payment, account and privacy messages are separate.
2. Information we handle
| Information | Purpose and source |
|---|---|
| Account email, sign-in identifiers, Google sign-in name/image, sign-in/device/security metadata | You and Clerk provide these to create and secure your account and communicate with its adult holder. |
| Student first name or nickname and year level, Years 4–6 | You enter these to label the account and support the student's use. We do not ask for date of birth. |
| Practice answers, drafts, timing, scores, progress and lesson activity | Created through use to run practice, save progress and show results. Drafts may also be stored on your device for recovery. |
| Saved writing responses and task information | Stored so you and the student can revisit them in the account history. Automated feedback is currently unavailable; while it is off, submissions are not sent to a feedback provider. Free text may contain personal or sensitive information even though we ask you not to include it. |
| Purchases, payment status, renewal/expiry, refunds, disputes, Stripe references and payment-method summary | You and Stripe provide these to process payment, grant access, handle queries and retain necessary financial evidence. Stripe collects card details; we do not store full card numbers or security codes. |
| Agreement/preference records, document versions, time, source and relevant device/network evidence | Recorded when you accept terms, give parental consent, buy or change marketing preferences. |
| Support email, help-chat messages and question reports | Provided to get help or report problems. Guest help chat can collect email and messages before sign-in. |
| Technical/security logs, request metadata and aggregate usage | Generated by the app and providers to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service. Logged details are limited to a set list of operational fields such as identifiers, status and timing; writing, answers, email bodies, names and operator notes are not logged. |
| Marketing-page measurement and limited purchase attribution | Described in section 6; used to understand how people find the service. |
We do not require a student's surname, birthday, school, home address, phone number or photo. Please do not include these, health information or other sensitive information in writing or support messages unless needed for a specific request. Free text can contain personal information. Without the information needed to sign in, provide access and save work, we cannot provide those functions. Declining marketing does not affect access.
3. Children and writing feedback
The service is for students in Years 4–6 under adult supervision. We require the adult account holder to confirm parental responsibility and consent before the student uses paid features. This is our account policy, not a claim that all children of a particular age lack legal capacity. The static student privacy page can be read at any time.
Students can draft and save writing responses in the account. Automated writing feedback is currently unavailable while provider eligibility is unresolved. While feedback is off, no writing is sent to a feedback provider. Saved responses remain visible in the account history.
We do not use student writing to train our own models, publish it or use it in marketing. Provider processing and retention are described on our Providers page.
4. Use and disclosure
We use information to provide practice, preserve work, process purchases, send necessary notices, respond to requests, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations. Aggregate usage helps improve the service; practice results do not predict school placement.
Providers support identity, storage, hosting, video delivery, payments and email. Some also have their own legal, security or payment-processing responsibilities. The Providers page explains their roles and overseas processing. We disclose information where legally required and relevant factual records to payment institutions handling disputes. Student essays are not routine chargeback evidence.
Support and privacy email passes through Porkbun forwarding to our operator's Gmail mailbox. Replies use our support or privacy address. Resend delivers application emails and manages the adult marketing contact list. A support request does not subscribe you to marketing.
5. Overseas processing and security
Our service is not hosted exclusively in Australia. Providers may process information in Australia, the United States and other countries where they or their providers operate. See our Providers page. Overseas laws may differ from Australian law; this notice does not ask you to waive privacy rights.
We use access controls and protected connections and work with providers to protect stored information. No system is completely secure. We assess data incidents and communicate with affected people and regulators as required by applicable law.
6. Cookies, measurement and marketing
Account/security technology is needed to sign in and run the app. Draft answers can be saved on your device for recovery. We use Vercel's cookieless analytics on public pages for aggregate usage information.
Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta browser measurement are limited to public marketing pages. They may receive page addresses, browser/device and network information, and cookie or click identifiers. They do not run on student, exam, Billing, Settings or admin routes, including after navigation there from a marketing page.
Separately, a confirmed purchase may be reported from our server to advertising measurement providers using the adult purchaser's hashed email, hashed account identifier and click identifiers. Hashing does not make this anonymous. These server purchase events exclude student writing, answers and names, and do not include IP addresses or user agents. We do not send sign-up or lead events. Email opt-in is separate from this measurement and is not consent to advertising tracking.
Browser controls can limit marketing cookies. Blocking essential sign-in cookies may prevent sign-in; clearing site data can remove unsent drafts. Browser controls alone do not stop server purchase attribution. Contact us with questions or objections.
If you separately opt in, we email tips, updates and offers to the adult account email at most once a week. Withdraw in Settings, through an email unsubscribe link without signing in, or by contacting us. We honour unsubscribe requests within five working days and aim to stop marketing immediately. We do not resubscribe you without fresh opt-in. Necessary account, payment, security and privacy messages may continue after marketing is stopped.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep account details, practice work and saved writing while the account is active.
To ask us to delete the account, email privacy@selectiveready.com from your account email. We verify the request, stop weekly renewal and marketing first, then remove access and work through the remaining records. We confirm with you when the request is complete; sending the request does not mean every step has finished. If a provider step fails, we continue the request and explain a material delay.
We keep only the records needed for financial obligations, consent and dispute evidence, complaints or a specific legal hold, for as long as those purposes require. We do not publish a fixed deletion timetable for every record while lifecycle work is in progress, and we do not promise immediate removal from every provider or backup. Providers may retain limited records under their own terms and legal obligations. Where lawful, we explain what a hold requires us to retain and what can be removed. Ask us about a specific record.
8. Access, correction and complaints
Email privacy@selectiveready.com to access or correct the information we hold about the account, or to ask about deletion. We verify entitlement before releasing information. You can also correct account fields in Settings.
For a privacy complaint, explain what happened and the outcome you seek. We aim to acknowledge within 2 business days and respond within 30 days. The OAIC provides privacy complaint guidance; its ability to investigate depends on jurisdiction. Our Contact page lists further assistance.
9. Changes
We publish changes with a new version and effective date, give at least 30 days' email notice of material reductions in privacy protections, and seek fresh consent where required. Contact us if you need an earlier version or have questions about a change.
