What happens before the 2027 tests?

When are the 2027 tests?

Each exam has its own test day, and some have several. In NSW, each child sits on one day only, and the tests are held only in NSW.

Edutest has no shared date: each school selects its own test date. ACER also runs an alternative date program (any date in the school year; results go to that school only). ACER notes that most Victorian schools use alternative dates.

When do results and offers come?

State test results come months after the test. Where a body hasn't set this year's date, the last round's date shows when it came before.

Scholarship results go to schools. For Edutest, results go to schools, not to parents, and each school's selection takes 3 to 8 weeks after the test. For ACER's cooperative test, ACER sends results to the schools and emails parents; for scholarship offers, schools contact parents directly.

"Expected" is the body's own timing, not a fixed date. "Not published" means the body hadn't set the date when we last checked.

What deadlines come after the test?

A few choices are still open once the test is over. In NSW, school choices close before outcomes come out, so change them in time.

Who sits each test, and how do you apply?

Each exam has its own rules on who sits and how to apply. Scholarship tests are run for each school, so you apply to each school separately.

Which rules catch families out?

Each of these rules comes from the body's own pages. Read the one for your child's exam before you apply.

ExamThe rule
NSW Selective and OCOC doesn't give automatic Selective entry. Families should keep both test days free until the Test Admission Ticket shows the child's day
Victorian Selective EntryOffer reply deadlines can't be extended. Requests to sit interstate or overseas (last round): when you apply, by the application close date
WA ASETA child sits once for each intake. Test dates cannot be changed to suit individual circumstances
Edutest scholarshipMost schools share results, so a child usually sits only once in each testing period ; a small number of schools do not share results
ACER scholarshipIf two alternative-date schools test on the same day, choose only one school. Special arrangements need 4 weeks' notice

How do you keep the dates current?

Dates can change. The NSW Department says key dates may change, and WA's Department says its dates may be subject to change.

A calendar feed adds published dates only, each with a reminder a week and a day before. Each feed covers one exam: the NSW Selective feed, the NSW OC feed, the Victorian feed and the WA ASET feed. The all-states feed holds every state's exams in one.

How do you cite the Almanac?

Every value on this page is a fact from an official page, with its source listed below. To quote it, cite "SelectiveReady, The Almanac, selectiveready.com/almanac" with the checked date at the top of this page.

The Almanac is also an open dataset: download the Almanac as a CSV, one row per fact with its source and check date. You can reuse it under CC BY 4.0, crediting SelectiveReady.

How we find, save and recheck each fact is set out in How we check facts. To compare what each test holds, see Exam formats compared.
