How does SelectiveReady check its facts?
SelectiveReady is an independent practice product. We're not part of or endorsed by the NSW Department of Education.
Every date, number and rule on these pages is held once with the Department's own words saved beside it, and automated checks fail a page if those words don't match the Department's page. AI drafts and checks the pages, a second AI model compares each page with the live Department pages before it goes up, and every correction is listed below.

Who runs SelectiveReady?
SelectiveReady is an independent practice product for the NSW selective high school and opportunity class (OC) placement tests. We are not part of the NSW Department of Education, and the Department has not endorsed us or these pages. The Department runs the tests, the applications and the offers; for any official step, use the Department's selective high schools pages.
The business behind it is SelectiveReady, ABN 53 930 169 401. You can reach us at support@selectiveready.com. We don't name a person as the author or reviewer of each page, because no one person reviews each page. The next sections say who and what does the checking instead.
How do we check each fact?
Each fact is held once, in one store, with the Department's own words saved next to it. Every date, number and rule about the tests is read from that store, so the same fact reads the same on every page. The guides for selective high schools and opportunity classes all draw on it.
We also save a copy of each Department page we quote. An automated test looks for every quote, word for word, in that saved copy. If a quote has drifted by even one word, the test fails and the page can't be published until the fact is fixed.
| Check | What it catches | When it runs |
|---|---|---|
| Quote match | A quote that isn't word for word on the saved Department page | Every time the site is built |
| Freshness | A fact not checked against the Department's page recently | At least every ninety days, and weekly near application and test deadlines |
| Second-model review | A page that says more than, or something different from, the live Department pages | Before each page is published |
| Page rules | A fact printed without its source, missing sources, broken links, countdowns to unannounced dates | Every time the site is built |
At the foot of each page, a sources list names where every fact on that page came from, with the Department's words and the date we last checked them.
What does Expected mean next to a date?
A date marked Expected is our forecast, not a Department date. We base it on when the same step happened in past years, and we say so beside it. Expected dates are labelled every time they appear and never get a countdown.
When the Department publishes the real date, the forecast is replaced and, if it differed, the change goes in the corrections log on this page. You can see which dates are published and which are expected on the selective test dates and OC test dates pages.
How is AI used on these pages?
AI drafts these pages and AI checks them. A person sets the rules and the method, but no person reads every page before it goes up, and we don't claim otherwise. That is why we don't show a “reviewed by” name.
What keeps the pages honest is the set of checks above, which run automatically. Test dates, numbers and rules come only from the store, and each has to match the Department's saved words; anything typed in directly is caught by the checks and the second-model review before publishing. A second, different AI model then reads each page against the live Department pages and stops it if anything goes beyond what the Department says.
What have we corrected?
Every fact that changes, and every fix to something we got wrong, is listed here with the old wording, the new wording and why it changed. Entries stay in the log; we don't remove them once a page is fixed.
| Date | What changed | Before | After | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| How we described the Department's practice tests | 2 types of free practice test | 2 types of practice test | The Department's practice-test page does not call the tests themselves free. | |
| How we described the Department's practice tests | 2 types of free practice test | 2 types of practice test | The Department's practice-test page does not call the tests themselves free. | |
| Selective outcomes date on our old dates, guide, scoring and reserve pages | Late August 2026 (expected, to be confirmed) | 19 August 2026, as published by the Department | Our old pages kept a forecast after the Department had published the date. | |
| James Ruse Agricultural High School's type on our old school page | Partially selective | Fully selective (one of the four agricultural high schools) | Our old school page contradicted the Department's list of selective high schools. | |
| Estimated cut-off marks in our old "top 10 selective schools" post | Per-school cut-off estimates and a ranking | Removed. There are no set minimum entry scores; the post now redirects to the school list | The estimates had no source, and the Department publishes no cut-off marks. | |
| Our own product's details in the "online selective test practice platforms" post | SelectiveReady: no free tier, writing feedback unavailable | Matches /pricing: one full practice test with results is free with a parent account; writing feedback is included in paid plans | The post contradicted our own pricing page. It now discloses that SelectiveReady is one of the products compared. |
Can I reuse the school places data?
Yes. The list of selective high schools and their Year 7 places behind the selective school chooser is open as a CSV file and a JSON file.
Method in one line: each row is copied from the Department's list of selective high schools, and a test checks that every school name and address appears in our saved copy of that page. The data is the Department's, so credit the Department when you reuse it.
Who owns the Department's words and the sample tests?
We quote the Department under its own licence: Copyright material on the Department's website is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). Each quote on these pages carries that credit.
The official sample tests are different. Copyright in the official sample tests is owned by Cambridge University Press & Assessment. The CC BY 4.0 licence does not apply to the official sample tests. So we never copy sample questions or images onto these pages. We describe the kinds of questions in our own words and link to the Department's practice tests instead. To compare what each test covers, see OC vs selective.
How do I report a mistake?
Email support@selectiveready.com with the page address and what looks wrong. If you can, include the Department page that shows the right answer.
We check the report against the Department's page. If we were wrong, we fix the fact once in the store, so every page that prints it is corrected together, and we add a line to the corrections log above.
